Personalised Manchester United Book – Personalised Christmas Presents For Man Utd Fans
This Personalised Manchester United Football Book has to be one of the best Christmas presents that any Man Utd fan could wish for! It’s simply perfect. The nice people at Gone Digging sent me this one to have a look at and see what I thought. And I exceptionally impressed with what I got.
Now the point to bare in mind is the price at this stage. At £44.99, it’ll probably be a major part of any Manchester Utd fan’s Christmas presents. But the thing is, I’d say it is worth every penny and more. These days personalised Christmas presents are all the rage and shows that you’ve taken that extra bit of thought and time to find something largely unique to them.
Getting the boring information out of the way, I definitely wouldn’t say that its a last minute Christmas present as the delivery takes 4 days with standard delivery or 2 days for quick delivery, and if you wanted it embossed then that’ll take another 2 days. Overall, however, its well worth the wait and its not like you’ve got to order the Manchester United book a month before Christmas.
Not only will you see the recipient’s name embossed on the cover:
but there’s also a nice bit of personalisation inside the front cover which makes all the difference. Here you’ll also see some photos of some Manchester United greats such as Nobby Stiles, George Best, Sammy McIlroy, Dennis Law, Bryan Robson, Mark Hughes, Bobby Charlton and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The book starts at the time when we won our first FA Cup in 1909, but misses out our first League title in 1907 which is a bit of a shame, but perhaps there were no surviving newspapers with a piece on the win? If you did wish to know the first match to be reviewed, it was the 1-0 win over Bristol city and interestingly the game was played at Crystal Palace. And if you wanted a bit more information the game was played on April 25th 1909.
With these newspaper histories rather than the traditional form is that you’re informed as to true nature of games. In this final the crowd was described as “drab” and the fans wandered about the city after the match with their “red favours and geraniums” and “tired and warn out, reached the various termini about midnight …“
The book is full of such events although, the relatively baron years of 1912 to 1951 were only punctuated by their promotion to the first division in 1925. After that we’re met with the Munich Air Tragedy which still haunts the club even today:
And after you can see the first European Cup win, the resignation of Sir Matt Busby, the great win over Liverpool in the 1977 FA Cup final to prevent them from winning the real treble as well as wins in 1983, 1980 and 1990 before Eric Cantona signed as was dubbed “a flashy foreigner” and finally bringing the League title back to Old Trafford on Sunday May 2nd 1993!
After that, there’s coverage of many other Premiership wins including the treble in 1999, the signing of Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney and the sale of David Beckham.
An interesting read is the coverage of the take-over by the Glaziers and the slight dip after that which was followed by three straight Premier League wins and the lifting of the Champion’s League trophy, but ends on the loss in Rome.
Overall, this personalised Manchester United history book is not only enjoyable to read, but informative too. It would provide a great introduction to the club for any new young fan and is well worth every penny. You can buy it from Gone Digging for £44.99.
Happy Santa Rating: 90% – I’d say if you’re looking to buy a personalised Manchester United Christmas present and wanted to give something more than a mug or replica shirt then this has to be the ideal gift for any Man Utd fan.
